Girlguiding

The Royal British Legion are proud to partner with Girlguiding through an official product range.

Girlguiding are the UK’s leading charity for girls and young women. Across the whole of the UK, an amazing 80,000 volunteers help 240,000 girls aged 4 -18 to be their best and face the challenges of growing up today.

For a long time, Girlguiding members have attended Remembrance Day parades, with some units even raising money locally for RBL.

Following the success of the first year of our partnership in 2019 with the official woven and metal badges, Girlguiding also released a VE Day 75 badge in May 2020 and a Remembrance 2020 badge in Autumn to commemorate 75 years since the end of the Second World War. 

During our centenary year in 2021, Girlguiding produced a range inspired by the life cycle of the poppy, the designs displayed the seed of the flower scattering, symbolising how the RBL will continue to grow for the next 100 years. 

This year, Girlguiding have introduced two new badges which tell the fascinating story of the contributions made by the guides to the First World War efforts.

Have you met secret agent Olive? Olive is the star of the official Remembrance badge for 2023 and is inspired by the important role Guiding members played during the First World War, while working closely with the MI5.

You won’t find Olive written about in any textbooks, because technically she never existed, but she does represent a fascinating moment in Girlguiding history. Olive represents all the brave and dedicated Guides that worked diligently at MI5.
