Help with funeral costs

At an emotionally difficult time, you may need help with funeral costs for a member of the Armed Focres community - we're here to help.

Help from the State

You may be eligible for financial help if you are on a low income or claim certain benefits. See the GOV.UK website for more information.

If the deceased died in Service

If the deceased died in Service, the Armed Forces will pay for many of the funeral expenses. Visit the GOV.UK website for more information.

If the deceased was a war pensioner

If the deceased was claiming a war pension, and their death was caused by, or hastened by an injury incurred while serving, you can make a claim for help with funeral costs through Veterans UK. You must make a claim within three months of the funeral.

The Royal British Legion may also be able to help with some of the funeral costs following the death of a member of the Armed Forces community, including: spouses; dependants; or carers.
