Legion Invites School Children to Enter National Poetry, Art and Song Competition

Pupils could be part of a special national moment of thanks for the Centenary of the First World War.

Throughout Remembrance and 2018, The Royal British Legion are partnering with charity Never Such Innocence to encourage children and young people to pay tribute to the generation of the First World War by saying “Thank You” through a creative expression of appreciation and gratitude.

The competition invites children and young people to submit poetry, art and songs inspired by the events of 1914-18.

Entries inspired by the theme of “Thank You” could feature in the Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018, which is televised on BBC TV and iPlayer every year on the Saturday before Remembrance Sunday, in the presence of HM The Queen.

The competition will give children the chance to reflect on remembrance, helping learning across a variety of subject areas including history, literature, art and geography.

Competition Entry

The competition is free to enter and the deadline for entries is 16 March 2018.
