The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon is scheduled for Sunday 3rd October, 2021.
50,000 runners and 50,000 virtual participants will make 2021 the largest race ever staged in the world.
Charity place runners
You can still apply for a charity place with Team Legion.
We’ll ask you to pay a registration fee of £120 and fundraise £2000 to support the Armed Forces community.
Ballot place runners
If you have a confirmed place through the London Marathon ballot for 2021, we’d love you to join Team Legion. Register with us and we’ll help you with lots of fundraising ideas, every pound you raise will help us provide vital services to our Armed Forces community.
Ballot place runners should have received confirmation of their place from London Marathon before registering with us.
50,000 runners will take part in the London Marathon virtual race on 3 October 2021. With 24 hours to complete 26.2 miles and superb technology to support runners, it will be a fabulous virtual event, earning runners the same unique London Marathon medal and t shirt.
We are offering FREE places to runners joining Team Legion and raising funds to support the Armed Forces community. We’ll offer full support with training and fundraising, when you reach £300 we’ll send you a Legion running vest to wear on race day.
Join Team Legion
2021 is an extra special year for the Royal British Legion, our centenary year. Join us to celebrate 100 years of support for the Armed Forces community. By taking part and raising funds, it will help us ensure that those who have served are not disadvantaged because of the sacrifices they have made.

We’ll support you all the way to the finish line with fundraising tips, training advice, the loudest cheers and celebrations on the day. Your place on the with Team Legion will include:
- Training plans to help you hit your target time
- An exclusive training event with a qualified personal trainer
- A personalised technical running top
- The loudest cheers on the day from our enthusiastic team
- A massage and refreshments at our Post Race Reception - a perfect place to meet your friends and family afterwards*

How your support helps
What happens if the event is postponed?
We follow government guidelines and put the health and safety of our participants, staff and beneficiaries first and foremost. If it is necessary to postpone an event we will be in touch to offer a choice of transfer or refund. Full details are in our Terms and Conditions.

When will I find out if I have received a charity place for The Royal British Legion London in the Virgin Money London Marathon for 2021?
The Royal British Legion will be assigning places on a rolling basis and will let everyone know if they’ve been successful by March 2021.
When will I receive my official race day information?
The final instructions magazine will be posted to you around four weeks before the event day. For the most up-to-date information, please do keep an eye on their website.
When will I receive my race number and timing chip?
You will need to collect your marathon pack from the Virgin Money London Marathon EXPO on either the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday before the marathon. Please refer to the London Marathon website for timings closer to the event day.
All runners must attend the London Marathon Expo in order to collect their running number and timing chip. Failure to collect your race number will result in you unfortunately being unable to take part.

What happens during race registration?
You’ll be required to show a form of photo identification in order to receive your event pack. If you’re unable to attend registration and wish to send a friend or relative to collect your event pack on your behalf, they must bring a form of photo identification for themselves and you as well as a signed letter of authorisation from you confirming that they can collect your event pack.

When will I receive my Royal British Legion running vest?
What if I need to update my personal details?
Please email email@example.com with your name, date of birth, telephone number, old address and new address. Your address details will then be changed in their system and a confirmation will be emailed to you when this has been done. Please do not call the helpdesk with changes of address as these can only be processed by email.
What should I do about travel and accommodation?
It goes without saying that it’s worth booking your accommodation sooner rather than later. Think about whether you want an easy journey to the starting zone (Greenwich Park) or if you want a shorter journey at the end (staying near the finish line in Central London).
