Family Holiday Breaks
The Legion provides families of serving and ex-Service personnel the chance to take a break and get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Unwind and take life as it comes, venture out and about to explore the local area or spend a lazy day at the beach. Most importantly, you will have time to be together as a family.
Legion Family Holidays
“It was a great family holiday that has given us a great high after a very low year.”
Legion Break Centres
Our Break Centres in Bridlington, Southport, Portrush and Weston-Super-Mare aim to give families a week of fun, activities, exciting day-trips and memorable experiences, all in traditional British seaside resorts.
Each Break Centre package includes six night's full board accommodation, free activities and entertainment, with some assistance towards the cost of travel to and from the centres also included. We offer family holidays at the Legion Break Centres during the school Easter, summer and October holidays.
Here we've answered some of your frequently asked questions:
What's included/How much does it cost?
We aim to provide a free holiday that should only require a minimum amount of spending money. The Legion can provide some assistance towards the cost of food and transport. Find out more about what's included.
Where can I go?
The Legion owns and operates four Break Centres (equivalent to high-standard, hotel-style accommodation) in England and Northern Ireland.
Who can go?
The Legion can assist those who are Serving or who have Served in the UK Armed Forces, along with their dependants and carers. The Legion normally defines dependants as the spouse and school-age children of the person who has served. In order to apply for a family holiday, you should also fulfil the family holiday criteria, please see our 'How to apply' section below for more information.
Guests can only be included upon the agreement of the Legion, who retain full ownership of all holiday bookings made through the family holiday service.

The family holiday service is very popular. We prioritise breaks for first-time applicants where possible. We contact applicants and process applications on a first-come, first-served basis.
Don’t wait until next year to apply
We always encourage applicants to apply as soon as possible as it is a very popular service. We will always retain your application until we are able to offer you a break.
Due to the popularity of the service, we can't state exactly how long it may take for us to process your application.
