We understand that life is hard sometimes and it can be difficult to know where to look for help.

That’s why our support team are on the ground every day trying to reach those most in need.

We’re not the emergency services but if you’re struggling, the Royal British Legion can help you get back on your feet.

RBL understands that serving personnel can give up a lot to be part of the Armed Forces. We know that family life and relationships can suffer. And sometimes transitioning to civilian life can be even harder.

Veteran Gary Bowman

"I didn’t have any family that could help out."

Gary served in both the Navy and the RAF but, after leaving the Armed Forces, was at risk of homelessness. With our help he’s now got his own flat.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to reach their potential and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

If you’re hungry, have nowhere to stay, or feel you have nowhere else to turn, we can be there for you.

Whatever your circumstances, our team are there to help – without judgement – and provide a safe space for the Armed Forces community and their families to access the support they need.

We also know that everyone is different and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Our support team will work with you to explore what you need and the best way that we can help. This might be accessing services RBL already provides or connecting you with another organisation.

You can call us on 0808 802 8080 from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.

Calls are free from UK landlines and main mobile networks.

You can also use our online chat service from 8am to 8pm every day or email us on info@britishlegion.org.uk.

Am I eligible?

If you or your family are experiencing hardship, our support team can help you to access the specialist services you might need. We can also advise you if you’re having difficulties after being referred for another service as well as providing practical and emotional support.

You may also be referred to RBL’s support team by another organisation. In this case we will work together to ensure you receive the help you need.

What can we help you with?

Our support team help people from all backgrounds who are facing a variety of – and often multiple – issues. This can include homelessness, mental health problems, domestic violence or drug and alcohol addiction.

Whatever your circumstances, we’re here to help make sure that you can access the support you need to get your life back on track.

How does it work?

We don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach. Your experience with us will depend on your needs and will be tailored to you. After an initial assessment, our team will review your circumstances and advise on next steps. In some cases we may simply be able to refer you another RBL service or we can provide more personalised, hands-on support.

As well as being available on the phone, via email and online chat, we’re based in communities across the UK. We can also travel to people in harder to reach areas.
