Welcome from Fil
“I’m the new Registered Home Manager at Mais House."
"I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 40 years’ experience working in Health and Social Care. I left the NHS in 1992 to become a Lead Nurse and Quality Manager in a Housing Association in the West Midlands. I have worked in the Independent Health and Social Care sector ever since with a variety of roles including Home Manager, Regional Operations Manager, Regional Care and Quality Manager and as a Head of Quality."
"I am very pleased and proud to be working with the Royal British Legion and looking forward to this role at Mais House. I am passionate about getting the care and support of older people right and getting to know the people that I am a part of supporting. I always support teams to share my absolute belief that it is a privilege to support people to live positive and happy lives and to understand that we are working in their home; they are not living in our workplace."
"I have 4 sons, a grandson and a granddaughter and live with my wife and younger 2 sons as well as our dog, Arthur, in Mid Sussex."
Fil de Pina Muller, Mais House Manager

Our activities
Social interaction, camaraderie, and helping residents pursue their interests and hobbies play a big part in day-to-day life here.
At our home, life is full of opportunities to connect, create and enjoy. Our dedicated Activities Co-ordinator ensures there is always something exciting on the calendar, from summer fêtes, evening concerts and live music, to art classes, themed dinners and cinema nights. Our activity room also offers a welcoming space for arts, crafts and creative expression.
Music plays a big part in our home life, with twice-weekly choir sessions that bring everyone together in song, and special performances from an opera singer that are always a highlight for residents.
To support health and wellbeing, we provide yoga therapy sessions, regular trips out into the community, and events in partnership with the local Royal British Legion branch. For those who prefer a more personal touch, we offer 1:1 sessions so that everyone can enjoy meaningful engagement, tailored to their needs.
Residents also love our popular garden club, fun seasonal events, daily dog therapy sessions and regular visits from friendly petting zoos. A professional hairdresser and physiotherapist visit twice weekly, and our very own in-house shop stocks a variety of favourite items, ensuring residents who are unable to access the community can still enjoy the things they love.
Who can stay?
We provide short and long-term care for serving personnel, veterans, and their dependants.
We are proud to have a warm and inclusive community of men and women of varied ages and abilities. Our care is dedicated to supporting not only serving and ex-serving personnel, but the wider Armed Forces family, including dependants and carers. This extends to anyone who has previously served and received at least one day of pay from the Armed Forces, aged 16 or over at the time of service.
