A woman receiving funding from the Royal British Legion to study abroad

Our postgraduate bursary programme is an exciting opportunity to study in South Korea.

This Bursary is aimed at assisting Undergraduate Students in full-time education who are looking to study in Korea as part of their course and offer them the opportunity to visit the Republic of Korea (South Korea).

It is intended that the bursary should help generate understanding between Britain and the Republic of Korea and build even closer links between the two countries.

The bursaries are established in memory of those who gave their lives during the Korean War (1950-53) and aim to strengthen the relationship between Britain and South Korea. Funded by an endowment from Samsung Europe and administered by us, the scheme has been running since 1995, with students from all walks of life taking part.

The bursary is a fixed sum and can be used to cover:

  • one return flight to the UK during the study period
  • contribution towards accommodation costs, and
  • ancillary expenses related to the cost of living.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is open to members of the public, with a preference for those with a family connection with the Armed Forces.
