RBL Dunkirk Memorial House - Day 2

A care home exclusively for the Armed Forces community.

Situated in the rural county of Somerset, Dunkirk Memorial House is close to the Quantock Hills, Exmoor, and several beaches, and not far from the bustling town of Taunton. The residents’ shared experiences in the Armed Forces create a truly unique and supportive community, where everyone looks out for one another.

For more information about Dunkirk Memorial House or to arrange a visit, please call 01823 432 407 or send an email and a member of our team will be in touch.

RBL Dunkirk Memorial House Anne Lewin

Welcome from Anne

“There’s a shared bond at Dunkirk Memorial House because of the service connection, which means there’s a real sense of team spirit. Everyone looks out for each other, and we do everything we can to make those who have given so much to our country feel completely at home.”

“We’re hugely proud of our very special Dementia Mews where we focus on the emotional needs of our residents, stimulating memory through a variety of prompts like Victorian-style interiors.”

“Our Wellbeing Team is at the heart of the home and enjoy seeing our residents getting involved in hobbies they already love – and some new ones too. This includes art and craft classes, flower arranging, gin tasting, card games and trips out to the local towns.”

We also have indoor skittles, art and craft classes, armchair exercise sessions, social evenings in the bar, games of scrabble and cards, and books to borrow.

We have several spacious lounges where residents can socialise or sit and read. The home has a delightful chapel with regular services, and a memorial garden for Remembrance services and quiet reflection.

We also often organise trips such as visiting a garden centre for an afternoon tea.

Who can stay?

We provide short and long-term care for serving personnel, veterans, and their dependants.

We have a community of men and women of varied ages and abilities. We’re dedicated to supporting not only serving and ex-serving personnel, but the whole of the Armed Forces community, including dependants and carers. This includes serving personnel, or those who have previously served, who have received one day of pay.

Prior to admission, we require:

  1. our residents to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (“fully vaccinated” as defined in Government regulations and guidance for England) unless they are exempt and

  2. where applicable, for proof of vaccination to be provided. If you cannot comply with this criteria prior to admission, please contact us to discuss your individual circumstances and your options.
