Join us for a discovery walk using maps and minds to uncover city gems.

Poppy Quest London is the perfect way to discover the past and present of this historic city. The 10km sponsored walk is suitable for all ages and abilities. You can walk solo, with your dog or with family and friends - it’s completely up to you.

On setting off from the Honourable Artillery Company, you’ll be armed with a map to navigate our trail and a set of questions to answer en route which will get you to explore the city’s rich history.

If you’re walking on your own, you can meet up with fellow solo walkers at our Meet Up point at the start. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends and get your heads together to take on this unique challenge.

We’re asking each adult to fundraise £50, but if you reach £100 in sponsorship you’ll receive a special prize for you or your team.  The vital funds you raise will mean we’re able to support veterans and their families.

Registration costs £16 for adults, and children under 18 can enter for free. All participants will receive:

  • A finisher’s reward to celebrate your achievement
  • A Royal British Legion t-shirt
  • A special gift for participants who raise over £100
  • A map and quiz to help you find the hidden gems in your city
  • Full support prior to the walk, including fundraising pack and preparation ideas
  • Soft drinks, sweets and snacks to replenish you before and after the walk
  • Meet and greet our Poppy Mascot
  • Entertainment at the Event Village

What is Poppy Quest?

We’ve revamped our old Poppy Walks and given it a brand new shiny name. Welcome to Poppy Quest, where you’ll be using maps and mind to uncover city gems. Our Poppy Quest events will take the same format as the old Poppy Walks but we felt it needed a new name to stand out from the crowd. Hopefully you’ll like it just as much as we do.   

What time does the event start?

When you register for London Poppy Quest you can choose from one of the following start times:

9.30am
10.00am
10.30am
11.00am

The event village is open until 5pm, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the route before getting your well-deserved medal at the finish.

Will the route be different from last time?

One thing we like to do with our Poppy Quest events is to change things up a bit each year so you’ll never do the same walk twice. We’ll have a completely different set of questions to answer and the route will get you to explore even more of your town/cities hidden secrets.

Why isn't there a Poppy Quest near me?

We hope to increase the number of Poppy Quest events in future years but we have to be careful about how much we spend on new events to ensure that we raise enough money for our veterans, serving personnel and their families. We’re really sorry if there isn’t a Poppy Quest near you, in the future, we hope Poppy Quest events will spring up across the country.

How much do I have to raise?

Registration fees only help to cover the event costs – so fundraising is really important in helping serving and ex-serving personnel and their families. We’re asking each adult to raise £50 and get the kids involved to help them too.

How do I pick up my prize for reaching £100 in sponsorship?

This year, we have a special prize in store for participants that raise £100 or more in sponsorship. You can pick this up on the day by coming to the Collection Point and showing us your JustGiving page or your sponsorship form. Please note that if you are fundraising in a team you will only receive one prize per £100 raised.

How can I pay in my fundraising?

The easiest way to fundraise is by setting up a JustGiving Page. Simply visit The Royal British Legion's JustGiving page and click the 'Fundraise for us' button. You can also post a cheque or sponsorship form with your name and the event you’re fundraising for to: Mass Events Team, The Royal British Legion, 199 Borough High Street London SE1 1AA.

How long is the route?

The course is approximately 10km, but there are plenty of opportunities to stop off at cafes around the route.

Is the route accessible?

Yes, we always try and ensure our routes are easily accessible and that people of all abilities can take part. In some cases where stairs may be present then there will always be an alternative in place.
