Take part in the most iconic marathon the world has ever seen; the Virgin Money London Marathon. The incredible atmosphere on race day is one to remember and you will get to experience the iconic sights of our capital. Starting in the beautiful Greenwich Park you’ll run past Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Cutty Sark on your way to glory at Pall Mall.

Guaranteed charity places

We are now accepting applications for our charity places.

The registration fee will be £120 and you will have a £2000 sponsorship target. These places are in high demand so make sure you include as much detail as you can in your application. You will be asked to explain in detail your motivation to run for The Royal British Legion and tell us your plans to reach your target.

Enter the ballot

The public ballot entry system for the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon opens on Monday 30 April and closes at 17:00 on Friday 4 May. Head over to their website to enter and remember if you’re one of the incredibly lucky ones and get a ballot place you can still fundraise for the Legion and be part of our team!

FAQs

When will I find out if I have received a charity place for The Royal British Legion London in the Virgin Money London Marathon for 2019?

We know you will be eager to find out if we can allocate you a place with us please be patient with us we want to ensure we give everyone an opportunity to submit their application. We will let you know by October 2018 at the very latest if you have a place with us or not.

When will I receive my official race day information?

The final instructions magazine will be posted to you around four weeks before the event day. For the most up-to-date information, please do keep an eye on their website.  

When will I receive my race number and timing chip?

You will need to collect your marathon pack from the Virgin Money London Marathon EXPO on either the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday before the marathon. Please refer to the London Marathon website for timings closer to the event day.

All runners must attend the London Marathon Expo in order to collect their running number and timing chip. Failure to collect your race number will result in you unfortunately being unable to take part.

What’s in my pack?

  • Event running number
  • Timing chip for your trainers
  • Bag for the baggage drop with stickers for your bag.

What happens during registration?

You’ll be required to show a form of photo identification in order to receive your event pack. If you’re unable to attend registration and wish to send a friend or relative to collect your event pack on your behalf, they must bring a form of photo identification for themselves and you as well as a signed letter of authorisation from you confirming that they can collect your event pack.

Where do I start the race?

You will be sent information about which start line you begin from with the Final Instructions magazine. These will be sent to you in March 2018.

What will I receive as part of #TeamLegion?

What will I receive my Royal British Legion running vest?

Running vests and iron on letter will be sent out 4-6 weeks before the event.

What if I need to update my personal details?

Please email changeofaddress@londonmarathonevents.co.uk with your name, date of birth, telephone number, old address and new address. Your address details will then be changed in their system and a confirmation will be emailed to you when this has been done. Please do not call the helpdesk with changes of address as these can only be processed by email.

What should I do about travel and accommodation?

It goes without saying that it’s worth booking your accommodation sooner rather than later. Think about whether you want an easy journey to the starting zone (Greenwich Park) or if you want a shorter journey at the end (staying near the finish line in Central London). London Marathon have partnered with the Holiday Inn other IHG hotels - you can read more about accommodation on the London Marathon website.
