Our services are still available, and we are working with partners and other organisations to support communities across the UK. Based on Government advice, we have made some changes to ensure we continue to support and protect our community as best we can.
We understand that you may need our help now more than ever, and our support services are still operating with some changes.
Local support is available, and there are still organisations and communities across the UK ready to lend a helping hand. However, to best protect our beneficiaries and staff, we have closed our Pop-in centres for now. For advice and support nearby, contact us on Freephone 0808 802 8080 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
We are still able to provide support and advice for any challenges you may be facing. Financial and employment support is still ongoing, as we understand your circumstances may have changed recently. Your physical and mental wellbeing is incredibly important, and if you have a specific need right now contact us on freephone 0808 802 8080 or email email@example.com to discuss your situation.
Our Admiral Nurses service helps you care for members of your household who may be struggling with dementia. We have stopped home visits for now but can provide advice over the phone. Freephone 0808 802 8080 or email ANsupport@britishlegion.org.uk for help looking after a loved one with dementia.
Whatever kind of support you may need, the Veterans’ Gateway local support tool can show you organisations close by that are ready to help.
During the COVID-19 outbreak our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our elderly and vulnerable veterans. More than ever the Legion needs skilled staff to help us care for those living in our care homes. So we can keep delivering the care they deserve, we need more staff to cover for sickness and absence.
We are calling on nurses, care assistants, general assistants, catering staff, administrators and maintenance staff, who are available for work now. We’ve got full and part time roles at our six UK care homes in Taunton, Cromer, Broadstairs, Bexhill-on-Sea, Southam and Ripon. The Legion is also looking to recruit an army of casual staff members able to provide temporary support to the homes during this crisis.
If you can help us by filling any of the roles in one of our homes, or know someone who can, please contact the Legion as soon as possible on 0808 802 8080 or LegionNeedsYou@britishlegion.org.uk.
The RBL Helpline remains fully operational, so if you or someone you know in the Armed Forces community needs our support, please continue to contact us on 0808 802 8080 (8am to 8pm, 7 days a week). You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As of Thursday 19 March, our 15 Pop In Centres on high streets around the UK will be closed until it is safe to reopen them.
Please note that as our offices are closed, we're currently unable to open any post. If you'd like to get in touch please contact us by email at email@example.com, or by calling 0808 802 8080.
If your concern is Covid-19 related we would encourage you to contact NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk/covid-19 as they will be best placed to support you.
All of our live fundraising events this Autumn have sadly been postponed to 2021. However, we now have virtual options such as My Poppy Run and many ideas for fundraising safely in a way that suits you. Help support your Poppy Appeal in any way you can during these difficult times. Please call our supporter care line on 0333 011 4500 for assistance with fundraising or donations.
Our Membership Annual Conference is now taking place virtually on Saturday 19 September. You can join online from 10am.
We’re encouraging all communities across the UK to join forces to ensure help and care is available for anyone who may be experiencing hardship, loneliness or isolation. Please do get in touch if you need us during this challenging time, and we stand ready to support you.
We have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s regional City Poppy Days that were scheduled to take place in Cardiff, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester.
This decision has been taken to safeguard our staff, volunteers and members of the public in the unprecedented challenges that Covid-19 poses for this year’s Poppy Appeal. Whilst disappointing for all concerned, we would like to stress that this decision has not been taken lightly and hopes that anyone affected understands why this decision has been made at this time. We are committed to delivering these events in 2021, subject to further Covid-19 restrictions.
London Poppy Day planning is currently continuing as it has its own dedicated staff resource who is able to solely focus on the challenges that Covid–19 presents. We are currently hopeful that appropriate measures can be implemented so that LPD can still take place, although subject to restrictions.
If you would like any further information please get in touch with your local RBL contact or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have now published our Covid-19 management risk assessments for different areas of the Legion. You can download the different risk assessments below.
