Armed Forces Day

Supporting the Armed Forces community through life

From serving personnel and veterans to families and the bereaved, the RBL is here to support everyone in the Armed Forces community.

We provide expert advice and practical support for the Armed Forces community - whatever the need.

Adam, Mina and Denis are all currently serving in the Armed Forces and reached out to us for support in recent years.

From financial advice to recovery support, we stepped in to help when they needed us.

Mina Endeley

“When I met all these different people, all with completely different disabilities and injuries... I felt included”

Mina Endeley

Mina joined the British Army as a medical cadet in 2001. With a drive to help people, she wanted to practice medicine in a developing country, honouring her Nigerian and Cameroonian heritage.

The Armed Forces provided the perfect opportunity to do so, as she worked her way up to Senior Medical Officer in the Royal Air Force.

Mina has over 25 years of military experience, with deployments all over the world, including Iraq. However, due to a medical diagnosis of her own, Mina’s experience of service is now very different.

“I have Lupus, an autoimmune condition where every so often, my joints decide they’re not playing ball, or a body part will do what it wants to do. That has meant that I don’t get to deploy in a full capacity, like I used to.”

This new way of life hit Mina hard, but never damaged her determination. RBL enabled her to compete as part of Team UK at the Invictus Games in 2025, which gave her something to aim for, as well as the sense of belonging that she’d been chasing. We provide expert advice and practical support for the Armed Forces community - whatever the need.

Adam Sefton

“To have the support of an organisation such as the RBL has been a godsend”

Adam Sefton

With 25 years of service under his belt, Adam is dedicated to his career, but also to his role as a father to three boys.

In 2021 Adam's relationship broke down. Having suffered from domestic abuse in the relationship, Adam needed support to keep himself and his children safe.

“My line manager spoke to me after seeing me struggling and told me to contact the RBL. I wasn’t sure how they could help, as I was currently serving and hadn’t received any support elsewhere”, he told us.

Since then we've supported Adam in many different ways, from providing toy vouchers for the children’s Christmas presents to funding school uniform and smart clothes to wear at a family funeral.

Dennis Oghalo

“The support RBL provided has made a real difference and helped ease a lot of stress and worry"

Dennis Oghalo

Denis is a Logistics Able Rate, currently serving in the Royal Navy. His day-to-day administrative role is varied, with him handling responsibilities such as pay accounts, travel arrangements, allowances, and tracking to move deployed personnel.

Originally from Kenya, Denis sadly lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his grandmother.

In 2026, during a period of financial difficulty, Denis reached out to the RBL for the first time, after receiving advice from his Naval Chaplain. The RBL provided him with a washer dryer and fridge freezer, as well as a specialist sofa for his wife, who lives with severe fibromyalgia.

A few months later, Denis turned to the RBL again following the sudden death of his grandmother. With very little time before the funeral in Kenya, his Case Officer acted quickly and went above and beyond to arrange funding and flights within days, ensuring he could return home in time, and allowing him to say goodbye:

“I was there, because someone who doesn’t know me cares, and I was there because of them.”
