The Role
Poppy Appeal Organisers are a critical leadership role for the RBL annual Poppy Appeal.
You will be excited about this role if you:
- want to develop skills and experience in leading a team
- are excited to be involved with high-profile community fundraising
- are interested in developing your knowledge of your local community
- are comfortable handling money
- have an hour or two a week during the year, with a more intense time commitment between September and November
Poppy Appeal Collector
As a Poppy Appeal Collector, you love meeting people and hearing their stories, are comfortable handling money, and are passionate about supporting the Armed Forces community and honouring their contribution. You will be available to share 2 or more hours of your time in November to help with the Poppy Appeal, either by yourself or with a friend, work, or community group.
Care Home – Dunkirk Memorial House, Taunton, Somerset
Care Home Bar Assistant Volunteer
Serving our residents drinks and providing a listening ear in the bar, you will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area, handling money and keeping records. This role is a great opportunity to use and develop your skills in conversation and understanding of the needs of older people. If you can give a regular weekly commitment of time, you can help to maintain vital social interaction opportunities for our residentsCare Home Befriending Volunteer
Do you have a caring, patient and non-judgemental nature? You could support vital social interaction in our care home by conversing with residents, helping residents join activities and games and accompanying them on short trips. This is also a great opportunity to share an existing skill or develop one you have an interest in, crafting or a love of reading for example. In some homes, it may be possible to befriend residents with dementia. You will not be providing personal or nursing care or counselling services as part of this role.
Care Home Maintenance and Gardening Volunteer
Your basic maintenance and gardening skills will help to maintain and improve the grounds and other areas of the Care Home and improve the day-to-day living experience of residents as well as their family and friends and other who visit.
Care Home Reception Volunteer
Comfortable working with people and undertaking a wide range of tasks as required, you will be helping to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Care Home, and assisting to ensure administrative activities run smoothly.
Care Home Social Activities & Events Volunteer
Your creativity and organisation skills will be put to good use as you help to provide fun and engaging activities for residents of the Care Home. You could also be helping residents to access different amenities at the Care Home, or supporting events and fundraising activities.
Care Home Volunteer Driver
Providing access to Care Home residents to events and activities in the wider community, you will use your safe driving and time management skills, your patience, and your listening skills to act as a Volunteer Driver.
Care Home Fundraising Volunteer
Raising vital funds for the Care Homes, you will raise the profile of RBL Care Homes by preparing, promoting and delivering local fundraising events, as well as approaching local businesses to encourage them to engage with fundraising with us.
