Remembering D-Day: Dennis's story

Aged 17 Dennis Alcock lied about his age to join the Royal Navy and fight in the Second World War.

Serving as a Convoy Signalman he helped ferry hundreds of British troops to landing craft on D-Day as they prepared to land on the beaches of Normandy.

I remember helping one soldier climb down and he threw me a tin of food out of his rations as a thank you.
