West Felton

Members met in the village hall on 7 July.

It was agreed that the WW1 commemorations event on 22 June was a tremendous success.

Plans were in place for the Carnival float but it was agreed that it was not possible to prepare and man a stall on Carnival day in the absence of Mike Johnson. Members were saddened to hear of Mike’s resignation due to ill health and wished him well for the future.

This means that the Poppy collection in the area this year is in jeopardy. No volunteer could be identified to take on the role of Poppy Appeal Organiser and the vacancy has been reported to County office. West Felton will be included in a publicity campaign in due course.

Due to uncertainty about the venue, the harvest auction was also deemed to be impossible this year. Approaches will be made to the new owners of the Punch Bowl Inn in due course in relation to monthly meetings and other Legion events.

Andy Young’s preparation for his PoppyBike ride in September is going well. Members pledged their sponsorship and wished him a successful journey.
