Remembrance Jalhay

Jalhay is a small Belgian village about 36 km eastwards from Aachen.

During WW2, on 2 November 1944 a Handley-Page Halifax bomber was shot down while on it's return from a bombing raid on Düsseldorf. The plane crashed at the village of Jalhay. All seven crew members were killed in action - six Canadians and a Scotsman. All were buried at the Hotton War cemetery in Belgium.

On 21 August 2022 a memorial service was held at St Michael's Catholic Church followed by a wreath laying ceremony. The wreath for the RBL and Rheindahlen Branch was laid by a Branch member,Christopher Farrell (on the left) and the Canadian wreath was laid by their representative.
