Poppy Appeal launch 2011

The Royal British Legion stands shoulder to shoulder with all who serve.

We are the nation's leading Armed Forces charity providing care and support to all members of the Armed Forces past and present and their families.

Welfare

Providing practical care, advice and support to the Armed Forces family is at the heart of everything we do. If you are currently serving, an ex-Serviceman or woman or dependent on someone who is call 08457 725 725 or visit Can we Help?

Comradeship

The Legion is one of the UK's largest membership organisations. 360,000 members support the work we do and enjoy friendship through our worldwide network of branches. Membership is open to all supporters of the Armed Forces family.

Representation

The Legion has been the major voice for the Armed Forces community since its creation in 1921. We have a dedicated campaigning team pressing politicians throughout the year to improve the lives of Service people and their families.

Remembrance

We are the nation's custodian of Remembrance, ensuring people remember those who have given their lives for the freedom we enjoy. We are responsible for the Two Minute Silence on Remembrance Sunday and 11th November. We also organise the Festival of Remembrance and assist with the march past at the Cenotaph.

The Poppy Appeal

Each year the nation expresses its unequivocal support for our work through its generous support of the Poppy Appeal (raising over £36 million in 2010) which goes towards our vital welfare work.

National Memorial Arboretum

Part of The Royal British Legion family of charities, the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire provides a living and lasting focus for Remembrance for those who have lost their lives or suffered in the Service of their country. It is also home to the Armed Forces Memorial.
