Family holiday breaks

Seven days and seven nights of relaxation and entertainment !

Curtis family on a Legion holidayThe Legion provides families of serving and ex-Service personnel the chance to take a break and get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

We offer holidays between springtime and the October school half-term each year; in 2015, this is 21 March to 24 October. We normally organise the holidays on a Friday-to-Friday basis, but can look into other options where necessary.

Our Break Centres in Bridlington, Southport, Portrush and Weston-Super-Mare as well as some of the UK's top holiday providers, aim to give families a week of fun, activities, exciting day-trips and memorable experiences, all in traditional British seaside resorts.

It was a great family holiday that has given us a great high after a very low year.

Unwind and take life as it comes, perhaps venture out and about to explore the many attractions of the local area or spend a lazy day at the beach - all our centres are located on the sea front close to town centres. Most importantly you will have time to be together.

Family holidaying at Bennet -HouseEach Break Centre package includes six night's full board accommodation, free activities and entertainment, with travel to and from the centres also included. Breaks at Parkdean Holiday Parks and Haven Holiday Parks provide seven nights mobile home accommodation with a programme of daytime and evening entertainment and food vouchers to use in the onsite catering outlets.

All of this funded by The Royal British Legion.

Beach holidayHere we've answered some of your frequently asked questions:

Where can I go?
The Legion owns and operates four Break Centres (equivalent to high-standard, hotel-style accommodation) in England and Northern Ireland, and we also make use of Parkdean and Haven holiday parks around the UK, and they're all near the coast. Click here for the full list of locations. And click here for more information about Parkdean Holiday Park facilities.

What's included/How much does it cost?
We aim to provide a free holiday that should only require a minimum amount of spending money. The Legion does assist, where possible, with the cost of food and transport. For more information about what's included click here.

Who can go?
The Legion can assist those who are Serving or who have Served in the UK Armed Forces, along with their dependants and carers. Some restictions apply, please see our 'How to apply' section below for more information.

Can you help me to identify a suitable location for my family holiday?
We're keen to be as flexible as possible in order to accommodate your family's circumstances, but we can only work with the information that you provide. If you are struggling to find a suitable location, we'd gladly help you to identify something suitable, if you tell us what you have in mind.

I've applied for a Legion Family Holiday - what happens next?
Once your application has been approved the Poppy Breaks Coordinator will contact you as soon as possible to assist in organising your holiday. Essentially, we'll confirm what date you'd like to go away, which location and any specific requirements your family may have.

Our family holiday service is very popular, so depending on what time of year you apply, it may take a few months for us to make first contact.

If you have applied for a Legion family holiday but have not yet been contacted, please first call our free national helpline on 0808 802 8080. They will check that your application has been sent to the Legion's Head Office and once submitted we will do our best to contact you as soon as possible.
