The Patron's Lunch: a royal success

The Legion was one of more than 600 charities attending HM The Queen's birthday celebrations

On Sunday 12 June, more than 10,000 people descended upon The Mall for The Patron's Lunch - a Great British street party in celebration of Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday.

Despite a damp start, the party-goers weren’t at all disheartened by the rain and donned ponchos to join in the festivities.

The Legion took 70 guests including beneficiaries, volunteers and members to experience the once-in-a-lifetime event. Take a look at our gallery from the day:

Commenting on his experience at the event, one of our guests, 92-year-old Royal Navy veteran Jack Gordon, said: "It was wonderful. It's a shame about the weather but hearing the bands did me the world of good."

“Thankyou, you amazing people. The work you do is amazing,” said Invictus Games competitor Luke Delahunty about his hosts for the day.
