A Standard Bearer preparing for a Remembrance parade

Remembrance and ceremonial services

Our members play an active role in Remembrance across the organisation.

This includes the Royal British Legion's Remembrance services following a strong ceremonial tradition dating back to 1921.

We provide guidance to members and the general public on the organisation of Remembrance services, including the Orders of Precedence.

Remembrance services and parades

Please note that this guidance is for services and parades organised by RBL only, and that local authorities may have their own Orders.

Member etiquette

If you are attending a Remembrance event in your capacity as a member or are carrying a Branch Standard there are certain regulations that should be upheld. For information on the occasions and procedures for wearing medals please view the guidance document below.

Standards and Standard Bearers

Our Branch Standard Bearers carry our Standards with pride. To ensure that the tradition can continue to a high quality the RBL provides guidance to members on uniform regulation and for maintenance of Standards.
