If you suffered an injury or illness related to your service in the Armed Forces on or after 6 April 2005, you can make a claim under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.
All serving and ex-serving personnel can make a claim under the scheme, including reserve personnel and Gurkhas. Any claims need to be made within seven years of the illness and injury and you can apply if you are still serving.
If your condition was not caused by a specific incident, then you need to make a claim within seven years of leaving service. Although you do not have to wait until you've left service to submit a claim.

Please note that if your injury or illness happened on or before 5 April 2005 then your claim is assessed under the War Pensions Scheme, and if you're already receiving a War Disablement Pension through that scheme then your benefits won't change.
