St James's House

We’ve partnered with St James’s House Publishing for our Centenary to write and publish Cooking with Heroes.

The book divides the UK and Commonwealth into 100 regions. For each, it tells the story of a local hero who has made a significant contribution to British Defense. These incredible stories are accompanied by a recipe that reflects the food culture of the region.

The writing team was led by Sqn Ldr Jon Pullen, along with a team of over 140 volunteers from the Armed Forces family, including serving personnel, veterans, reservists and family. Assisting the team were Royal British Legion members, supporters and internal staff.

The recipes were sourced and written by military chefs alongside celebrity supporters of the Legion, such as Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein, Melissa Hemsley, Cyrus Todiwala and the Hairy Bikers.

St James’s House have already donated £50,000 to the Royal British Legion and hope to raise another £100,000 by selling the book.
