Carlisle Poppy Appeal organiser named ITV Fundraiser of the Year after raising almost £1 million for us.
Our very own Margaret Wadsworth, was named ITV Fundraiser of the Year at the 2018 Pride of Britain Awards after raising almost £1 million during her time as an RBL fundraiser.
Along with her husband Colin, Margaret has been raising money for, and raising awareness of the Legion through their work at the Carlisle and Stanwix branch for the past 12 years.
She was presented with the award by Sir Cliff Richard and presenter Rochelle Humes at a start studded ceremony in London ahead of 16 other regional finalists.
Margaret was nominated by Carlisle and Stanwix Branch Secretary Tony Parrini who said that the couple deserved recognition for their fundraising.
Last month she was surprised by her colleagues at a ceremony where she was presented with a regional award, Fundraiser of the Year for the Border regions, which led her to her national win last week.
Margaret became involved with the RBL after husband Colin joined their local branch after leaving the Army in the 1970s.

Team work
Together they help organise the regions Poppy Appeal which see them distributes over 900 boxes of poppies each year, last year raising over £116,000.
As well as fundraising Margaret and Colin also visit schools and organisations to raise awareness of the RBL and the support it gives to the armed forces community.
“We also encourage fundraising by going out to schools and organisations and tell them all about what RBL does and try to enlist their support.”
