TV favourite Helen Skelton asks nation to ‘Help us, help them’

Sainsbury's has launched a campaign to support the Armed Forces community during Remembrance this year.

TV presenter Helen Skelton is asking UK shoppers to support thousands of Armed Forces families with the ‘Help us, help them’ campaign exclusively at Sainsbury’s.

Helen is hoping she can inspire families around the country to get involved and support the campaign simply by buying selected Proctor & Gamble products instore or online at Sainsbury’s. For each product bought between 11 October and 21 November, a 10p donation will be made to The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland.

“It’s just so easy to get involved. The Armed Forces provide us with such a crucial service and give so much. This campaign is a great way to show our support and provide help where it’s needed the most.

“I’ve had the privilege to meet both serving Armed Forces personnel and veterans, and have seen first-hand the effects military life can have on families. As a mum, I know how important it is to feel supported and I hope that the UK’s shoppers get behind this wonderful partnership,” said Helen.

Anna Harland, Head of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability at Sainsbury’s, said: “We’ve been working with The Royal British Legion for 23 years and last year alone our colleagues and customers are proud to have raised £3 million. This year we’re hoping to raise even more money for the Legion, and this new partnership with P&G is another way we’re making it easy for our customers to donate when they shop with us.”

The Royal British Legion is the nation’s biggest Armed Forces charity, and alongside Poppyscotland, provides care and support to all 6.7 million members of the UK’s Armed Forces community of serving personnel, veterans and their families. With more than 3 million dependents within the ex-Service community and 79% of Service families with children, it’s clear the charity’s work remains a vital lifeline for so many.

Claire Rowcliffe, Director of Fundraising at the Legion, said: “Since 1921, The Royal British Legion has been there for the UK’s Armed Forces community through thick and thin. We are grateful to campaigns like ‘Help us, help them’ which, along with the public’s fantastic support, enable us to continue providing support to those in need, whether they are serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans, or their families.”

From 11 October to 21 November 2017, purchase selected P&G products such as Oral-B, Olay, Gillette and Pantene at Sainsbury’s instore or online, and P&G will make a donation to The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland. 1 pack = 1 donation.
