Pedal to Paris 2012

Pedal to ParisApplications for Pedal to Paris 2012 are now open!

Welcome to Pedal to Paris 2012 - your chance to join the finest long-distance cycling event in the UK charity calendar (so we have been told!).

The four-day 460 kilometre adventure from Greenwich to Paris, through some of hte best cycling landscape of England and northern France has become a firm favourite in the Legion's calendar, with every aspect of the ride planned with precision  - from accommodation and transport to the all-important mechanics, outriders and sports physios. We plan so you can ride hassle-free. Just one of the reasons so many cyclists come back to us again and again.

Yes, the cycling is great, but there's more - the atmosphere is superb - very quickly strangers become friends, supporters and cycling companions and many regulars rate the 'shared experience' as much as the exercise.

The warm welcome the riders receive from villages and towns along the route is always a highlight - the result of a strong bond of history between the Legion, its cyclists and the people of northern France.

And the grand finale is an escorted ride up the Champs Elysée to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, one of the few events beside the Tour De France which is granted the privilege.

Tour description

London to ParisCyclists looking for a long distance ride, where they are afforded the same support and back up as the Tour de France, need look no further.

Participants ride through some of the finest cycling terrain in England and France - from sweeping wooded countryside and quaint hamlets to quiet rural lanes and city streets closed just for the event. It is challenging, but the Legion's specialist team of mechanics, sports physios and motorcycle outriders are there to support riders throughout the journey.

Cyclists can bask in star treatment as they ride through the streets of Paris closed especially for the event - one of a select few bike rides other than the Tour de France offered this special privilege. Yes, riders need to put in the training to make the most of this amazing event, but the Legion helps them every step of the way - from the day they sign up to the end of their exciting adventure.
