Terms and Conditions for the Poppy Lottery

The following are the terms and conditions governing Poppy Lottery. Poppy Lottery is promoted by Royal British Legion Poppy Lottery Limited (RBL Poppy Ltd), a subsidiary company of The Royal British Legion. RBL Poppy Lottery Ltd  is licensed by the Gambling Commission (www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk).

  1. Purchase of entries to the Poppy Lottery must be from the Promoter, in accordance with the terms under which it promotes its lotteries.
  2. Entries will not be sold to or by any person in a street, unless sold from a kiosk or on the doorstep.
  3. Entrants must be residents of Great Britain and 16 years of age or over. 
    It is an offence for lottery entries to be sold to a person under 16 years of age. Any person found to be under 16 years of age automatically forfeits the right to any prize.
  4. Entries must not be bought on behalf of somebody else.
  5. Entrants must provide accurate entry information, including name, personal address and inform the Promoter of any changes to these details as soon as they arise.
  6. Entrants agree to the Legion's use of the information they provide in accordance with the current data protection regulations.
  7. The cost of each entry is £1. More than one entry per week may be purchased and payment must be made in advance by one of the methods permitted. 
  8. Extra entries/chances may be purchased from the Promoter for any one weekly draw at £1 each.
  9. The Royal British Legion is committed to operating a socially responsible lottery and as such will need to verify with customers purchases of more than 10 weekly entries or more than 60 additional chances for any single weekly draw.
  10. The Promoter agrees to protect any advance payments made for future draws.
  11. Payments can be made by Direct Debit, Standing Order, Postal Cheque, Postal Order or by Mastercard/Switch, Visa or Maestro. CAF cheques may not be used to purchase entries.
  12. Entries can be purchased online at www.britishlegion.org.uk/poppylottery or www.poppy.org.uk/poppylottery, over the phone by calling the Poppy Lottery Helpline on 01524 752 904 or by returning an application form to the Draw office: Freepost RLSK-ZBGZ-TYEA, The Royal British Legion, Poppy Lottery, PO Box 653, Galgate, Lancaster LA2 0XB.
  13. All proceeds from the Poppy Lottery go to The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal. Registered Charity: The Royal British Legion, Charity Number 219279.
  14. The Promoter will conduct the Poppy Lottery Draw every Friday or on the next working day if this falls on a public holiday. The Draw will be conducted by random number generator.
  15. The weekly prizes are:
    • 1st Prize £2000
    • 2nd Prize £250
    • 3rd Prize £150
    • 4th Prize £100
    • 5th Prize £50
    • 95 runner up prizes of £10
     
    There are 3 Big Prize Draws during the year where the usual weekly first prize increases to £15,000. There is also an Annual Superdraw every June where the first prize increases to £25,000. 
  16. There are no alternatives to the regular weekly prizes. The first prize winners of the Big Prize Draws and the Annual Superdraw may choose a new car alternative of equivalent value to the cash prize. No interest is payable on prizes. Prizes will be sent by cheque in the post within 21 days.
  17. The Promoter is not responsible for any delay in bank payments.
  18. A list of the winning prize numbers with names and town/county of residence for the top 5 prizes is published on The Royal British Legion's website www.britishlegion.org.uk/poppylottery.
    Winners lists may be requested by post, by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to FREEPOST RLSK-ZBGZ-TYEA, The Royal British Legion, Poppy Lottery, PO Box 653, Galgate, Lancaster LA2 0XB or emailing lottery@britishlegion.org.uk.
  19. Entrants accept that they may be required to have their photograph taken should they win a prize.
  20. No liability is accepted for the loss, theft or delayed receipt of any communication sent by post.
  21. The Promoter may (without giving any reason or notice) decline to accept an application, cancel an existing subscription, or terminate or suspend the lottery scheme. So long as entrants have complied with the terms and conditions of the Draw, such cancellation will not affect their prior purchase of lottery entries nor their rights as a holder of such lottery entries.
  22. The Promoter's decisions made according to the Rules shall, once made, be final and binding.
