Betty Lindsay is looking for Stan Higgin (sgt JS Higgin, RAF)
Last seen:
Where: being repatriated to the UK as a former POW
When: 1945
Extra details:
I am trying to find out information about a Sgt JS Higgin who served in the Royal Airforce during WW2. I am a relative of his and have no record of his birth to search my family tree. I do have the following information:
I believe he was called James Stanley Higgin but his initials were definitely JS. He was always known as Stan
Rank – Sgt.
His RAF no was 527330
He was stationed at Topcliffe at some time. (102 squadron) and before that at RAF Dalton. He took part in the thousand bomber raid on Cologne on 30/51942 and was on at least 13 missions before being shot down.
His aircraft- no. W1142DY-A was shot down over the German coast on July 26/27 1942 after leaving Topcliffe.
He was a prisoner of war in Lamsdorf,(344) POW no 42806
He came back to the UK at some time in 1945. I believe he had to have some treatment for injuries.
If anyone has any information I would be grateful, his DOB, any memories of him or any information regarding his service and repatriation.
