My Father, John Edward Gardner (Army Service No. 895856) served with the British 2nd Division in India during 1942/45. I believe that he served with 10th Field Artillery Regiment (RA), and understand that he took part in the relief of Kohima. During his service he spent time as a despatch rider, signaller, and radio operator, and his records indicate that his duties included forward observation. Sadly my Dad is no longer with us, but I'm trying to put a picture together of his Army life for our family. Any information regarding his time in the forces would be welcome.
