Coalitions and partnerships
Many policy issues won’t just affect members of the ex-Service community, but also other individuals and groups in society. On these occasions, the Legion will work with partners across the sector.
Members of the ex-Service community are often not alone in being affected by a specific issue or piece of public policy. Where we can, we work with other organisations and external partners to ensure that the needs of the ex-Service community are heard. Our voice is stronger when we work in partnership with others.
Armed Forces Health Partnership
From 2010-2013, The Royal British Legion and Combat Stress, the UK's leading military charity specialising in veterans' mental health, were part of a 'Strategic Partnership' with the Department of Health, which provided funding for a number of significant projects aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of the Armed Forces community, both directly and via research and collaboration.
This three-year programme of work, steered by a Working Group of representatives from the Service charity sector, Department of Health and MOD, aimed to build knowledge amongst clinicians and service providers on the health effects of Service in the Armed Forces, and improve veterans’ pathways to treatment and support.
The Working Group continues to meet regularly, with additional members from MOD, NHS England and Help for Heroes.
Care and Support Alliance
The Care and Support Alliance represent over 75 of Britain’s leading charities campaigning alongside the millions of older people, disabled people and their carers who deserve decent care.
Disability Benefits Consortium
The Disability Benefits Consortium (DBC) is a national coalition of over 50 different charities and other organisations committed to working towards a fair benefits system.
Cobseo, as the Confederation of Service charities, provides a unifying body within the Armed Forces charity sector. Through Cobseo, the Legion is able to work closely with service sector colleagues and present a coordinated voice to Government.
