Starting at Land's End on 4th May, The Royal British
Legion Battleback Challenge Team from 'Absolute Challenges'
successfully completed their cycle challenge in May. Covering 940
miles over 11 days, from Land's End to John O'Groats, the team
raised funds for the Legion's Battle Back Centre through
sponsorship and donations with a Team of seven Riders and a Crew of
five.
Saturday 7th May saw the team of cyclists pass through
Worcestershire as part of the Lands End to John O'Groats charity
ride, organised by Absolute Challenges, as part of The Royal
British Legion Battleback Challenge Ride. This was a 940-mile ride,
in 11 days. Despite the appalling weather, the team had travelled
from Gloucester over the Malvern Hills to make the first stop at
Newlands. Here they were treated to hot bacon sandwiches before
continuing their journey northwards. Members of the county
committee helped man two stop areas. In total, £25,000 was raised
for the project with a Team of seven Riders one of whom was
Sergeant Duncan Slater from the RAF Regiment, a double amputee. The
core group of cyclists were joined on various days by a number of
day riders who came along to show their support and contribute to
this worthwhile cause. They were attended by a crew of five.

£25,000 to the Legion's National President Lt General Sir John
Kiszely on the occasion of the Inter Services
Twenty20 cricket match at Lord's on 28 June.
