County Annual Conference 2011
January 15th saw Delegates and Visitors assembling in
the Council Chamber for the 90th Annual General Meeting
in the Council Chamber, County Hall, Spetchley Road Worcester.
After the Entry of Standards, the County President Air

The Chairman of the County Council, Councillor Mary Drinkwater
made the Official Welcome and wished Members a fruitful and
interesting meeting.
Item 13 on the Agenda gave a Video Presentation on "The
Way Forward" which included the fact that a higher rate of
Subscriptions was needed to ensure a healthy future of the Legion.
This was followed by a Presentation linked to Item 13, by Ken
Draper, a National Trustee and member of the Membership Council. On
completion, Ken took questions on both Items when a great deal of
interest was shown.
The Presentation of Annual Awards were made by the County
President and took place as follows:
Explanation of
Awards
County Certificate of
Appreciation.
These are awarded for work done over and above the normal
expectation for a Member. There is no hard and fast rule on the
length of time which should be served in any particular role. It is
also the first stepping stone to higher Awards. Special
Certificates may also be awarded to non members of the Legion, to
an individual or group or another Organisation for extraordinary
participation in Legion work.
Pritchard Cup (For Large Branches)
To encourage branch efficiency in submitting Forms, increasing
membership, attending National Conference, General Admin, taking
part in County Sports and Standard Bearer Competition, liaison with
public authorities and other organisations and to increase the
income of the Poppy Appeal.
Taffy Matthews Cup (For Small Branches
The objects and criteria for this Competition are identical as
those of the Pritchard Cup but are aimed at the Small Branch to
give the same opportunity and the same Rules apply.
Poppy Appeal Cup
This is Awarded to the Branch with the highest increased percentage
calculated over the previous three years. The Branch does not need
to make an application because this is decided by the records given
by the Poppy Factory.
Una Worrall Memorial Trophy
Awarded to the Branch with the second highest percent
increase in the Poppy Appeal.
Location and Date of Conference 2012 was given as 14th
January 2012 and the Location to be advised. Dave Waldron then Made
the Vote of Thanks.
