22 Standards Lining the Route at the North Door
Having received information regarding a grand National Celebration of the 90th Anniversary by holding Cathedral Concerts across the country, a great deal of discussion took place and advice from the Cathedral authorities was considered. This led to a decision that the initiative from Headquarters would not be followed but the type of Service be changed to an Evensong. This turned out to be a very popular decision and was extremely well attended. The Honoured Guests included, The Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Mr Michael Brinton and Mrs Brinton; Lord Sandys TRBL County Patron and Lady Sandys, TRBL Women's Section County President; Chairman of the County Council Cllr Ed Moore; The Worshipful the Mayor of Worcester, Cllr Mike Layland and his Mayoress June Layland; The High Sheriff of Worcestershire Lady Rosalind Morrison; The Chief Constable's Representative Chief Inspector Jerry Reakes-Williams; RBL Trustee Mr K R Draper; Chairman TRBL Women's Section, Mrs June Wildman. The National President and National Chairman were also invited but could not attend due to other arrangements. The general comment was that it was an excellent Service and a really wonderful way in which to celebrate the 90th Anniversary.
