                 The Warwickshire Poppy Appeal Results

The Legion County of Warwickshire includes Coventry, Solihull and parts of South Staffordshire on the North Warwickshire border. The Poppy Appeal results speak for themselves, thanks to our veritable army of Poppy Workers and the generosity of the public.

Expenditure on Poppy Support – Welfare/Benevolence

Since Poppy Support was launched in June 2006 the volume of requests for assistance from the Service and ex-Service Community including their dependants has grown considerably. The Legion looks to almonise funds from other sources before accessing Legion Benevolent Funds for those in proven need of assistance.  The understanding being that a Legion County should meet its share of any benevolent payments, whilst there are such funds in the County. Our total expenditure on Welfare in this County exceeds £600k per annum, with some 700 people being helped in 2009. The continued growth in requests for help is placing increased demands on our accredited Voluntary Caseworkers and we welcome those who might wish to volunteer their services for this vital area of work.
