My name is Jane Cooper and I am the Community Fundraiser for East Suffolk.

My role is to assist with the running of the Poppy appeal and the Poppy Appeal Organizers. I also help with fundraising ideas and events linked to the Poppy Appeal.

One of my jobs is to make sure we have Poppy Appeal Organizers in local areas, however we do now have some districts without any organizers and these areas are :

Boxted, Hevingham, Badingham, Brundish, Dennington, Mendlesham & district, Yoxford & District and Kelsale.

Most of these areas have Poppy Collectors in place, it is an Organizer we need to oversee the area, distribute the materials to the collectors, count and collect and bank the monies raised after the Poppy Appeal.  I am happy to assist where I can , but I feel it would be a shame to not have these areas covered in 2011. If you are interested in taking on the role of a Poppy Appeal Organizer, or would like further information please do let me know.

Each year, in early November some 30,000 Legion volunteers take to the streets with poppies and collecting boxes, raising millions of pounds for the Poppy Appeal.

The money collected at this time and from numerous other fundraising activities throughout the year, goes to providing help and support to serving and ex-Service men and women and their dependants.

Poppy People

We always need new volunteers - Poppy People - to assist with Poppy Appeal collecting in Suffolk

Without volunteer collectors out there on the streets, without appeal organisers planning the collections, this great cause - that helps thousands of ex-Service men and women every year - would grind to a halt.

And we urgently need to recruit more people as many of our current volunteers are retiring from active duty. Add to this the ever increasing demand on the Legion's services and you can see we need your help more than ever.

Please contact our County Poppy Appeal Coordinator if you are interested in helping.
