Poppy Appeal organisers and some of their collectors from across
Nottinghamshire got together on Saturday the 12 June to review the
appeal for 2009 and to look forward and plan for 2010.
Sixty five of the volunteers who co-ordinate the poppy
collections in their area were present at the Forest Town Welfare
in Mansfield.
The volunteers were briefed on the Mercian Regiment's tour of
Afghanistan by Captain Sam Boudet who came over from Belfast,
County Manager Paul Mulingani gave an update on the welfare work of
the Royal British Legion, Southwell PAO and RBL Branch chairman
Andy Gregory gave a presentation of the planned events for 2011.
Monty from the Riders branch informed everyone of what the Rider's
branch does and who it can help PAO's
In 2009 the Poppy appeal organisers in Nottinghamshire raised
£524,885.00 an increase of £15,980 on the previous year total and
the year does not end until 30 Sept 2010.
A good day was had by all and we would like to pass on our
thanks to the Forest Town Welfare for the use of their
facilities.
