News from Holyhead

Great excitement in Holyhead

On 11-11-11 we had great excitement here. A Polish pilot Kazinierz Rosieviez drowned in 1941 and was buried in St Mary's Cemetary.  Five members of his family came here.  Stan, his younger brother came from Boston USA. Two brothers and two nephews came from Krakow Poland. There was a service & Communion in St Mary's for Kazinierz at noon.

It was in the News letter which I got at Saturday evening Mass.  After reading it later was galvanized into action. This was a perfect opportunity to get our Branch in the news in a positive way.

I Got in touch with Brian who made phone calls to the members. I got in touch with RAF Valley. Fl. Lt. Robert Pitt came in time for our Remembrance Service, the Service in St Mary's and at the graveside afterwards. ITV Wales in the person of Rob Shelly was here to record everything. We made both the 6 & 10 o'clock news. It has created much interest in the Legion.

Seven Legion Members were present, also a young Sea Cadet Luke Robinson, son of our new member (October) Glenn. It was a very moving experience for all. When we got to the Cemetery the heavens opened, we had to stay in my car. Earlier that morning Brian had been to the grave with a poppy wreath. In the centre he had secured the White Eagle the emblem of Poland. When Stan saw it he broke down.
