NATIONAL LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARDS
ROYAL BRITISH LEGION NORTH
WALES
Two Members, Alan Cathery, Chairman North Wales District and
Membership Council Member for Wales, and Alun Jones, Chairman of
Nefyn & District branch were presented with their Certificates
& Life Membership Badges by Noel Duston Trustee from Wales at
the North Wales District's Annual Conference/AGM held at the RAFA
Club in Llangollen on the 28th January. Gilbert Butler,
Chairman of Shotton & Connah's Quay Branch, had earlier been
presented with his award at his branch AGM.
This rarely given and prestigious award is for achievements
considered to be conspicuous and worthy of merit, over and above
that normally expected of a member, and includes full membership
rights without payment of subscriptions for life.
At the same Awards ceremony Peter Kingston, MBE, was presented
with the Legion's Gold Badge for conspicuous and meritorious
service both to his branches Llandudno, & Rhyl (who proposed
his award), and as Vice Chairman of North Wales District. He has
now taken over the role of Chairman from Alan.
The RAFA Club venue in Llangollen was a fine and very
friendly place to hold our AGM, with a record for recent years of
46 attending, with an excellent buffet lunch laid on, and lots of
opportunities for members to meet and enjoy the comradeship born of
years of Legion membership
