The Poppy Appeal in North & East Yorkshire County
Each year, in early November some
30,000 Legion volunteers take to the streets with poppies and
collecting boxes, raising millions of pounds for the Poppy
Appeal.
During the Poppy Appeal of 2010, North & East Yorkshire raised
£1,014,851.39. This is all thanks to incredible hard work of the
fabulous volunteers who give up their time to deliver poppies,
collect donations and hold fundraising events.
The money we raise from the Poppy Appeal helps us to provide
practical, social and financial support to the serving and
ex-service community. We support all generations of the Armed
Forces and their families - today and for the rest of their
lives.
There are many ways that you can help to raise money for the Poppy
Appeal, while also helping to raise awareness within your community

Poppy People
The Royal British Legion is always in need of new
volunteers to become Poppy People and assist with Poppy Appeal
collections across North & East Yorkshire.
Without volunteers out there on the streets, without dedicated
appeal organisers planning the collections, this great cause - that
helps thousands of ex-Service men and women every year - would
grind to a complete halt!
We always need more people to come forward and becoming a
Poppy Person can be equally rewarding, along with being fun. You
can sell them in your work place, college, university, amongst your
family and friends or even join with others at a local collection
point - the choice is yours!
Should you wish to help with the poppy appeal, or require any
further information, please make contact with the Community
Fundraiser Liz Hughes, who is always
seeking willing volunteers.
