Youth Membership
Youth Membership offers the opportunity to take part in Royal
British Legion parades as a youth standard bearer - and the
possibility of taking part in the annual Festival of Remembrance at
the Royal Albert Hall.
You can learn to play a musical instrument, become a Majorette,
or develop your musical skills in the friendly atmosphere of a
Royal British Legion band - and experience all the thrill of public
performances.
And if you are already a member of an organisation like the
Guides, Scouts or one of the Cadet organisations you can affiliate
the whole group to your local Royal British Legion branch.
To join The Royal British Legion as a Youth Member costs only
£2.50 a year.

Youth Standard Bearer
As a Youth Member you can
be trained as a Royal British Legion Youth Standard Bearer. If you
are good at it, there are competitions between branches and
counties which lead to The National Youth Standard Bearer
Competition.
The winner of this competition holds the position of The Royal
British Legion National Youth Standard Bearer and attends events
such as the Festival of Remembrance held at the Royal Albert Hall
in London each year.
Youth bands and majorette troupes
The Royal British Legion has a number of youth
bands and majorette troupes in England and Wales. In addition some
adult bands are happy to accept youth members and may even teach
you to play a musical instrument.
Find one local to you and telephone them for more information.
Or simply contact the National Youth Officer, who can advise you if
there is a band or majorette troupe in your area.
You must be a Youth Associate Member of The Royal British Legion
once you are established in the band. You can join some bands or
majorette troupes below the age of 12 but you will be expected to
join become a Youth Associate Member when you reach 12.
