Welfare Case Worker

Welfare Case Worker

Two of the most fulfilling volunteer roles the Legion has to offer are as Caseworkers and Hospital Visitors. Helping us to deliver our Poppy Support services to those who have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, Volunteer Caseworkers and Visitors are the
face of the Legion.

You do not need any previous experience to be a volunteer Caseworker or
Visitor, but previous knowledge, training or even an interest in a health,
social services or a welfare field can be a real advantage.

All volunteers are offered free training and out-of-pocket expenses. Caseworkers and Visitors are subject to screening, as they are in contact with vulnerable people

Volunteer Caseworks work closely with the local County Offices and are active in the local community the whole year round. Their role is to assist thoe with welfare neds by:

  • Establishing contact with the person in ned;
  • Carrying out visits;
  • Gathering evidnce and completing documenttation; and
  • Sending a report and relevant documentation to the local Legion County Office as soon as possible.
