Joining the Legion

Membership of The Royal British Legion is available to all adults, not just those who are serving or have served in the HM Forces and we always welcome new members.  Find your local branch and contact the County Secretary to get details of the branch membership secretary or click here to find out how you can join.  If you like the social life, drop into your local club.

All members pay an affiliation fee of £11 per year and most branches have a small admin fee of a pound or two on top,  Club fees vary _DSC6548a.jpgfrom club to club.

A way to help the Legion is to tick the Gift Aid box.  For every £1 of your affiliation fee and any donations, the Legion can claim 28p from the Inland Revenue.  It costs you nothing.  Simply tick the box

You should be aware that the Legion year runs from the 1st October to 30th September.  Those joining the Legion between 1st October and 30th June will be issued with a membership card expiring 30th September that year and will be required to pay again from 1st October.  Those joining on or after 1st July will receive a card expiring 30th September the following year therefore gaining up to three free months.

The Royal British Legion plays an active role in the local community, and we rely on the help of our members to carry out our work in their local areas.  There are many ways people can help and become involved and all are essential to our work for the serving and ex-Service community.

Legion in the Community

To raise public awareness of what the Legion does in our community and encourage more people to get involved with the welfare, fundraising and membership activities of the Legion, we participate in various events and activities such as:

  • County Shows
  • Local Fetes/Fairs
  • Open Evenings
  • Concerts
  • Armed Forces Day (previously Veterans Day)
  • Attending Carnivals, Military Air Shows and Military Open Days.

If you have an event planned then let County HQ know all about it.  The 'Legion in the Community' (LIC) scheme is a perfect opportunity to publicise your Royal British Legion event.

Get in touch with the County Manager if you want to know more about 'Legion in the Community'.  LIC briefings can be delivered at your Group or Branch Meetings.  Don't be shy invite him along!
