On your bike and volunteer!

One of the Legion’s volunteers who will be taking to the streets in Cambridge this year is RAF veteran Geoff Rogers, who volunteers alongside his wife Irene.

This year marks Geoff’s 27th year of volunteering as a Poppy Appeal Organiser and he is looking for more people to join forces with him in the Cambridge area.

“I still remember the amount we raised in my first year as a Poppy Appeal Organiser, £7,740.37. This figure has gone up each year" he said.

“I volunteered for the Legion before I got involved with the Poppy Appeal, and met many of those receiving support from the charity. From those injured to those out of work and the families of those serving, I’m well aware of where the money goes."

Geoff hopes more people in Cambridge will follow in his footsteps.

“For me, it’s all about showing my appreciation for all those who have served and giving something back. I cycle around Cambridge every year delivering poppies to other volunteers and also taking the Legion’s learning packs to local schools.” Geoff Rogers, Poppy Appeal volunteer
