Colleagues from one of our longest running corporate partners, Coventry Building Society, volunteered their time to transform the garden of our Galanos House care home last month.
Coventry Building Society sent 25 volunteers to the Legion’s award-winning care home, Galanos House, with a car full of plants and planters ready for a busy day of gardening. Colleagues worked tirelessly throughout the day, creating a large new flower bed, herb garden and a trellis with climbing red, blue and white plants - symbolic of the Legion’s colours.
Tracy Lynch, Senior Data Modeller at Coventry Building Society, said: “It was a great day and a great opportunity to volunteer with other team members. The most memorable bit for me was a 'thank you' from one of the residents for pruning a bush which was blocking the view from her window across the gardens. Little things make such a big difference to others.”
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of Galanos House. Coventry Building Society’s support has been a triumphant success in helping with the preparations for the home's monumental milestone.
Coventry Building Society is one of the longest and largest official Corporate Partners of The Royal British Legion, raising over £14 million since 2008 as a result of their members saving in Poppy products. In 2012, the Legion was chosen as the Society’s corporate charity and since then the company and colleagues have gone much further than fundraising alone, providing over 500 hours of volunteering time in 2016 and taking on numerous challenge events such as the Major Series, Virgin Money London Marathon and Pedal to Paris.
