With its beautiful sea front location, Bennet House is a wonderful place to spend a week or two of rest and relaxation, away from the stresses and strains of daily life.

Like every Poppy Break Centre, we are exclusively for people of the Service & ex-Service community including their partners, dependants and carers, giving the Centre a unique, friendly and sociable atmosphere.

Many guests have made long lasting friendships during their stay. Your break will be enhanced by our friendly staff who will provide you with a warm welcome and a level of service that is rarely experienced these days. It is extremely rewarding seeing our guests de-stress during their stay and the remedial effects of their break last long after they have returned home. We are sure you will enjoy your break with us and experience the Legion's hospitality at its best.

Under refurbishment

Planning permission has been granted for our refurbishment plans at Bennet House and the contractors have started the 12 month program.

While work is underway, Bennet House has moved to the nearby 'Inn on the Coast' hotel. The Legion has use of 10 ensuite bedrooms at the Inn, as well as a private lounge and dining area overlooking the coast.

When it reopens in May 2011, the new Break Centre will provide a more accessible, spacious and updated facility for our beneficiaries.

Local services & attractions

Portrush is Northern Ireland's premier seaside resort with many events and attractions to enjoy.  Visit www.portrush.org.uk for more information.

Cliff top walks, the harbour and sandy beaches offer a contrast to the amusements, fairground attractions and town centre amenities.

The Legion Club and the 'Off Shore Bar' are hospitable destinations where you'll be made most welcome.

How to apply

If you are a serving or former member of the Armed Services, or their dependant, spouse or widow, you will be welcome to apply for a break at Bennet House.

Caseworkers from your local Legion Branch have the application forms and may be contacted via the Legion's County Offices. You may apply for a one week or a two week break which we will allocate when you come to the top of our waiting list.

Guests who need personal care are welcome if accompanied by a Carer which must be arranged in advance with the Centre’s Management Team. Nursing care is not provided at any of the Legion’s Poppy Break Centres however we do try and make our Centres as accessible as possible and at Bennet House we have two rooms on the ground floor especially adapted for guests who may have mobility problems or may use a wheelchair to get about.

Families Weeks are a special feature of Bennet House which are run in the school holidays to accommodate young ex-Service parents and their children who may need a break for health or welfare reasons.

Bennet House services the following counties and/or regions:
Northern Ireland, the Irish Republic and some from Scotland.

Admission to a Poppy Break Centre is determined on successful application of an SC18. These can be retrieved through your local RBL County Office. Visit our Counties page or contact Legionline on 08457 725 725 for contact details.
