Benefits and Money Advice Service

Struggling to make ends meet?

If you're a Legion beneficiary and you're having trouble paying the bills, or you think you could be entitled to benefits that you're not yet receiving, we might be able to help.

Meet one of our Benefits and Money Advisers and you'll get discreet, impartial and non-judgemental advice about how to maximise your income by claiming the benefits and tax credits you're entitled to and managing your debts - all completely confidential and free of charge.

"The help has improved my quality of life very much. I am now enjoying a life free from debt and worry."

Putting money back in your pocket

Since it started in 2007 the service has put £70 million back into people's pockets - through increases in benefits, writing off debts and gaining grants - with an average financial gain per person of around £2,800.

"Without the help we received from The Royal British Legion we would not be living in our home now. We're extremely grateful for the amazing support we received."

Specialist knowledge

Our advisers know how complex life in the Forces can be, and how a military life involves unique challenges that can lead to money problems.

We know about the difficulties caused by moving regularly, loved ones being away, rejoining civilian life and coping with post-traumatic stress disorder.

We also know about the specific benefits available to our beneficiaries, and can advise on areas like War Pensions, the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and disability claims and tribunals.

Contacting our BMA service

Problem debt can affect anyone, so it is important that people seek advice as early as possible and make sure they are receiving all the help they are entitled to.

If you require assistance with money issues, please contact an office directly using our full listing with phone and email details (in pdf format).

If you're unsure of which office to contact, please email bma@britishlegion.org.uk or phone our BMA enquiry line on 020 3207 2153.

Our Disability Team is also part of the BMA service. Find out more about how they can help with Claims and Tribunals.
