Remembrance
The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian
of Remembrance.
Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day
traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their
lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.
Each year on Remembrance Sunday at 11 am, York Branch,
together with other ex-Service organisations, is invited to attend
the annual Service of Remembrance in the City Memorial
Gardens.
Along with the military, ex-Service personnel numbering
approximately 150 march through the City supported by some 15
Legion and other Regimental standards.
The ex service contingent meets in Stonegate, York from
10am and by kind permission of the landlord members are invited to
use the facilities of the Punchbowl prior to and after the
parade.
