Welcome to the St James's Branch of The Royal British Legion
The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading Armed Forces
charity and one of the Country's largest membership organisations.
Members get together through the network of branches and clubs all
over the country and overseas to participate in social, fundraising
and welfare activities.
St James's Branch is the central branch of the Legion and
enables many people to join the Legion who might not otherwise be
members. This includes those living in remote areas, people who are
unable to take an active role in Legion activities because of
business or other commitments, or those (often those men and women
currently serving in HM Armed Forces) who have not yet decided upon
a permanent place of residence.
Membership is open to everyone. If you have an interest in the
objectives of the Legion and want to help and support for those who
have served and their dependants, come and join us. We welcome men
and women of all ages, whether they have served in the Armed Forces
or not.
The St James's Branch Committee meets quarterly in January,
April, July and October and the AGM is held in November. All Branch
members are welcome to attend these meetings. Please let us know if
you would like to attend any meetings so we can make sure the
meeting room is large enough - contact Christine Martin, Membership
Liaison Officer on 020 3207 2335 or email: cmartin@britishlegion.org.uk
• Remembrance is kept alive and that the sacrifices our brave
Service men and women have made are never forgotten.
• The ex-Service community have a voice and that their concerns
are brought to the public eye.
Becoming a member also provides the opportunity to get involved
in a wide range of activities and events held locally, regionally
and nationally throughout the year.
About The Royal British Legion
Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who fought
in the two World Wars of the last century, but also about those
involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting
for the freedom we enjoy today.
The Legion provides financial, social and emotional care and
support to all members of the British Armed Forces - past and
present, their families and dependants. It is also the national
Custodian of Remembrance and safeguards the Military Covenant
between the nation and its Armed Forces and is best known for the
annual Poppy Appeal and its emblem the red poppy. Currently, the
Royal British Legion commits almost £1.25M every week to support
and sustain the welfare needs of ex-servicemen and women.
