Remembrance

The Royal British Legion is recognised as the National Custodian of Remembrance.

Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

The Annual Remembrance Sunday Service is held in Lisbon at the beautiful St George's Church.  Details of the service can be found at: www.lisbonanglicans.org

In Oporto the Service is held at the Anglican Church of St James (http://www.stjamesoporto.org/ )

In The Algarve the Service is held at The Anglican Church of St Luke in Gorjoes. Details of other Church of England services can be found at: www.stvincentsalgarve.org

In Madeira the Service is held at the English Church (http://www.madeira-island.com/community/holy_trinity/ )

A ceremony is also held annually at 1100 on 11th November at the English Cemetery in Elvas (http://www.british-cemetery.com/ ).
