The Poppy Appeal in Nantwich

Hello everyone, and welcome to this my first Poppy Appeal report, for those of you who don't know me I'm Peter Martin and I have taken over the post of P.A.O which has been so ably filled over the past 20 years by Jim Rollins and his Wife, a duty I relish and look forward to. If I manage to do half the job they did I will consider it a job well done!

2011 starts off very well and the branch appeal currently standing at a massive £30,848.

This year saw a new name appear on the branch collectors cup for the first time in over 10 years! with the recipient raising a marvelous £942 at his very first attempt.

The cadets of 100 Squadron A.T.C. again did the branch and their unit proud by raising a grand total of £2,884 topping last years collection. As in prevous years a branch certificate of commendation was awarded to the highest collecting cadet.

Also this year for the very first time the Nantwich Fire Cadets took on the challenge opening their association with the branch with a very creditable total of £883 again a branch certificate was awarded to the highest collector.

The branch also had a manned display for the whole of the collecting period at Bridgemere Garden World for the first time which saw our collectors take around £2,000 plus we had static boxes at all the checkouts and the Fire and Air cadets (not together, far too risky!) roamed the centre and greeted? the coaches. All together Bridgemere raised approximately £5,000.

I look forward to this year as it is the legions 90th anniversary and hope we will be able to raise around £50,000 with many more fund raising events in the pipeline

A big thank you to all the collectors. We cannot hope to continue to raise these amounts without your help and support so again thank you and well done.
